New Zealand Champion Team

The Nationals were held at the Trentham Rifle Range recently. The club had a number of success throughout the week long championships, but I think the highlight for the club was the successful defending of the title as New Zealand Champion Team for the second year in a row winning the District Challenge Sheild.

Records show this presitigious shield was first shot for in 1880. Petone Rifle Club have been very successful throughout the years first winning in 1894 & 1895. Following on from then 1902, 1928,1932,1952,1971, 1972, 1997, 2011 and 2012.

Petone Team Jono Phillipps, Andre Doyle, Rick Fincham, Earl Graham and Diane Crow were coached by Darryl Crow. They won by 3 points from second place Te Puke Rifle Club and third place went to Upper Hutt Rifle Club.
