Despite the weather, the club had a good turnout for the annual Christmas Shoot.. This year was held a little different as we had a celebration! The WRA organised a progressive style dinner after shooting. With approximately 110 people in attendance, this started in the Upper Hutt Club Rooms with a nice spread of canapes, where their President, John Whiteman welcomed everyone to their club and then invited Darryl Crow (NRA President) to say a few words on the 30year License Agreement of Trentham Rifle Range that was signed at the begining of the Season.
Father Christmas arrived for the children - it was great to see so many little ones enjoy the excitment of the the Jolly Man in the red suit, spreading the joy of Christmas and passing out small gifts for all the children that were present.
We all then moved onto Karori Rifle Club - again greated welcomed by their President, Nicole McKee. We enjoyed a feast there with BBQ and every salad that one could imagine. The mains were jointly organised between Petone & Karori - an outstanding effort by all involved.
Finally we all made our way to Onslow Rifle Club where desert was served. I think by this time everyone was getting pretty full and were completely relaxed and enjoying the company. Trevor Oliver, President of Onslow welcomed us all to their club rooms and suggested that this was a fantastic way to celebrate the success of the range licence and christmas.
More for the children - a lolly scramble held on the 1000yard mound. I have to admit the excitment of all the kids was just amazing and by the time they had all had their fill of sweets, I think there may have been a difficult task for some parents getting the kids to bed.
However, a great night was had by all and the night concluded with everyone that was ready to party arriving in the Petone Club Rooms - FANTASTIC.
On behalf of the Petone Club Members - a big thank you to Nicole McKee for her initiative to run the evening and to the Wellington Association Committee for its success.
